# Installation

Follow these steps to install the Modern Survival Setup on your server:

### Step 1: Download

Download the setup from the [resource page](https://builtbybit.com/resources/modern-survival-setup-modern-series.72347/).

### Step 2: Extract

Unarchive the downloaded file to your computer.

### Step 3: Prepare Files

Open the **"SETUP FILES"** folder from the extracted content.

⚠️ **Do NOT use the "UPDATE FILES" folder for a fresh installation.**

### Step 4: Archive

Archive (zip) the contents inside the "SETUP FILES" folder.

### Step 5: Upload & Extract

Upload the archived file to your online server host's home/root directory and unarchive it.

### Step 6: Install Required Plugins

Download and install the required plugins from the [Dependencies section](https://builtbybit.com/resources/modern-survival-setup-modern-series.72347/field?field=dependencies):

* **PinataParty** (Free version included / Optional Premium)
* **NightMarket** (Free version included / Optional Premium)

Place them in the `plugins/` folder.

### Step 7: Start Server

Start the server with **Java 21** on **Paper 1.21.10** or a compatible fork.

### Step 8: Continue Setup

Once the server is running, proceed with the Configuration Guide.
