# Installation

Follow these steps to install the Tower Defense X Setup on your server:

### Step 1: Download

Download the setup from the [resource page](https://builtbybit.com/resources/tower-defense-x-setup-modern-series.93434/).

### Step 2: Extract

Unarchive the downloaded file to your computer.

### Step 3: Prepare Files

Open the **"SETUP FILES"** folder from the extracted content.

### Step 4: Archive

Archive (zip) the contents inside the "SETUP FILES" folder.

### Step 5: Upload & Extract

Upload the archived file to your online server host's home/root directory and unarchive it.

### Step 6: Install Required Plugin

Download and install **Tower Defense X** from:

* [BuiltByBit](https://builtbybit.com/resources/tower-defense-x.17015/?ref=266894)
* [Spigot](https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/%E2%9C%A6-tower-defense-x-%E2%9C%A6-create-towers-and-enemies-bosses-with-your-custom-designs.70774/)

Place it in the `plugins/` folder.

⚠️ **Critical:** Tower Defense X is required for the setup to function.

### Step 7: Download Server Jar

Download a 1.21.11 server jar from PaperMC, PurpurMC, Leaf, or Pufferfish.

### Step 8: Start Server

Start the server with **Java 21** on **PaperMC 1.21.11** or a compatible fork.

### Step 9: Continue Setup

Once the server is running, proceed with the Configuration Guide.
